‘Her Majesty’s Prison - Aylesbury’ proves to be a hit with critics and audiences. Series Produced and Directed by leafstorm’s Lee Phillips (for Wild Pictures) the explosive documentary filmed inside one of Britain’s toughest young offenders institutions attracted an audience of 5.6 million viewers - making it ITV's most watched documentary for 18 months.

“Film-maker Lee Phillips got perception-shaking access to this, a far removed yet incredibly relevant world. To the immense credit of the Home Office and the film-makers, nobody has tried to sugar-coat the misery captured in this programme. (After Coppers), Phillips remains bravely interrogative in his cutting new documentary series.” * * * * Alex Hardy, The Times

“A commendable and compelling window on an appallingly bleak world.” Mark Monahan, The Telegraph

“Very disturbing television. Brave and admirable.” Sam Wollaston, The Guardian

“An upsetting programme, in which we step inside the mind of people who openly profess to wanting to kill.” Daily Express

“A terrifying portrait of the sad existence of troubled, often violent kids who are badly in need of help they will never receive. Very disturbing.” The Observer

“It’s raw uncompromising material, yet you soon begin to see the inmates as human beings rather than monsters.” Michael Hogan, The Daily Telegraph

“Riveting, unbelievable viewing. A brilliant documentary. Prepare to be shocked.” The Sun

“Often shocking, sometimes light, always thought-provoking. Excellent.” Documentary of the Week - Radio Times

“It takes a remarkably measured person to work in such an environment, and that includes film-maker Lee Phillips, who stood at the shoulder of some extremely disturbing scenes. Urgent, honest, apolitical filmmaking.” Jasper Rees, The Arts Desk

The reviews are in. Here are just a few of the good things the press are saying about Coppers...

“What lifts Coppers way, way above the usual run of reality documentaries is the amount of trust involved…It's this feeling of being granted some intelligence that leaves you wanting more.” The Guardian

“A remarkable documentary capturing shocking scenes from last summer’s riots.” ****  The Daily Mail

“The truth about real policing leaks out - so different to bog-standard blue-light schedule fillers.” The Independent

“Amusing and depressing in roughly equal measure, it’s as honest a depiction of policing and the realities of crime as you’re likely to see on TV.”  The Scotsman

“A fantastic series.” Documentary of the Week - Radio Times
